February is the Month of Love, and Valentine’s Day is the day we celebrate our love for the special people in our lives. However, it has been reported that one in five people would prefer to spend Valentine’s Day with their pet. If you’ve been lucky enough to share your life with a dog or a cat, that statistic may not be surprising to you. It is well documented that pets improve our lives in many ways.
We know they make us happier, and research shows that they can also make us healthier. One study found that petting a dog or cat can reduce and stabilize your blood pressure. Pets can improve self-esteem, relieve stress and loneliness, and comfort us better than a human can because of their ability to give unconditional love.
Increasingly, pet therapy is being used in hospitals and nursing homes, schools, jails and mental institutions. Therapy animals are typically dogs and cats, but they also include horses, birds, fish, and reptiles. The human-animal bond is truly amazing. We can honour our pets not only with reciprocal love, but also with the highest nutrition and care possible. It is our mission at Pawsh Pet Place to help you do just that.
